William (Bill) Goldstein, 84, of Harrisburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 10, 2019 in Baltimore, MD. He was preceded in death by Marjorie (Cohen) Goldstein, his beloved wife of 49 years, his parents Abraham and Ruth Goldstein, and his brother Jack Goldstein. Bill was a deputy sheriff and volunteer firefighter while growing up in Calvert County, Maryland where his family owned the Prince Frederick Department Store. He was greatly influenced by his grandfather, Goodman Goldstein, who immigrated to the United States alone at age 14. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduating from Fork Union Military Academy and served in the Army Security Agency in Tokyo, Japan during the Korean War. After moving to Harrisburg, PA in the late 1960s with his wife, where he worked as a sales representative for the H.D. Lee Company, he spent many a day fishing with friends and family on the Yellow Breeches and Susquehanna River. Bill and his family were lifelong members of Chisuk Emuna Congregation. He lived a life of integrity and never made a decision in which he considered himself first. Foremost were his family, his customers, and his community. Everyone who knew Bill had a story about him and he had a joke or a story for every occasion. He lived life with gusto. He is survived by his son, David Goldstein and his girlfriend Rene' Roupinian of New York City, his daughter, Jennifer (Goldstein) Mittelman, and her husband, Mark - who Bill considered another son - of Baltimore, MD, his grandson, Zachary Mittelman, and dear family friends, the Lamonoff and Chernicoff families of Harrisburg, PA. Rabbi Ron Muroff, another family friend, officiated at his funeral service on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 1:00 pm at the Chisuk Emuna Cemetery Chapel. Arrangements were handled by the Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home, 3125 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, PA 17109. To send condolences or to share memories with the family please go to BitnerCares.com. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you consider donating to the Chisuk Emuna Rabbi's Discretionary Fund at 3219 Green Street, Harrisburg, PA 17110, to assist in training and supplying their Chevra Kadisha, the holy burial society, which Bill helped found and led for decades.

Yes, we remember Bill Goldstein. He was good to our parents who owned/ran Snell Feed & Farm service. Ruth & Abe also welcomed us too when they owned Dept Store. So sorry for your loss.
