On Wednesday, August 14, 2019, Donnie F. Kelley, 90, passed from this world to her heavenly home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Immanuel Baptist Church, 216 College Avenue, Panama City, FL. Her nephew Larry Cunningham and Pastor Virgil Tillman will officiate and burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens with Heritage Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the services.
Born October 1, 1928, in Brewton, Escambia County, AL, Mrs. Kelley was the daughter of Dennis and Leona Hawkins Fuqua. She was a graduate of WS Neal High School in Brewton. She married her husband of 53 years on July 1, 1948. She enjoyed a career as a secretary at State Farm for over 25 years working for several agents. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her church and her church family.
Mrs. Kelley suffered many losses over the years; her oldest son, James Lamar Kelley in 1987, her granddaughter, Susie Dawn Kelley in 1992, her husband, James Newton Kelley in 2001, a son-in-law, Billy Joe Deal in 2004, and her youngest son, Dennis Virgil Kelley, in 2005. Through these losses, she was sustained by her faith in God and the love of, and for, her family.
She had lived all of her adult life in Panama City, leaving only after hurricane Michael displaced her in 2018. She relocated to Clayton, AL to be near her youngest daughter. She battled cancer in 2017 with a victorious ending for it to only reappear in 2019 to claim her life.
Mrs. Kelley was also preceded in death by 3 sisters and a brother. Survivors include 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Ouida Deal (Darrell Nelson) of Panama City, FL and Donna Lenora Kent (Lee Fenn) of Clayton, AL; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Ed and Ruth Fuqua, Youngstown, FL, Frank and Peggy Fuqua, Fairhope, AL; a sister Bernice Baker, Hawthorn, FL; 6 grandchildren, Patti Brahier, Linda Ethridge, Michelle Porter, Erick Kent, Heather McGowan and Sara Mercer; 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Active pallbearers will be Erick Kent, Chuck Brahier, Andy Ethridge, Scott Porter, Robert McGowan and Will Fenn. Those wishing to extend condolences may do so at www.heritagefhllc.com
