Jason Melvin Niebuhr, age 39, of Wells, died Friday, August 16, 2019. A funeral service will be held Friday, August 23, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells with Pastors Mary Iverson and Kenneth Haack officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, August 22, 2019 at 4 to 7 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN and one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells, MN. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home is assisting the family. Please leave online condolences at www.brussheitner.com. THE FAMILY PREFERS MEMORIALS ONLY PLEASE. Thank you for your understanding. Jason was born June 5, 1980 in Wells, MN, the son of Lyle and Becky (Eastvold) Niebuhr. He grew up as the fifth generation on the family farm southeast of Wells. Jason graduated from United South Central, the Class of 1998 and South Central Technical College. Jason was four months old when he was diagnosed with retinoblastoma and by age 2 he was completely blind. Jason wasn't afraid to try anything. His mechanical skills started when he took his toys apart, learned how to drive a minibike at the age of ten and helped his parents on the farm every way he could. Jason enjoyed restoring his tractor, a 1946 B John Deere, which had been his grandpa Melvin's. He was always very curious, independent and a great leader. Jason was proud of his Wells heritage and wanted Wells to thrive. He owned and operated Wells Computer and Electronics for 16 years. He was a supporter of the community and an active member and leader in many Wells area organizations including the Wells Rifle Club, Flying Club, Lions, Jaycees, Farming of Yesteryear, USC Boosters, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church committees, Promise Keepers, Pheasants Forever and Wells Chamber of Commerce. Jason had a great sense of humor and loved helping people. His motto was "Nothing gets by the blind guy." Jason is survived by his mother Becky Niebuhr of Wells, MN; many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and 4 extra special children who were very dear to his heart: Milana, Calin, Amara and Colton Whitcomb. Jason was preceded in death by his father Lyle, grandparents, aunt Janet in infancy and aunt and uncles Cindy (Curtis) Whitcomb, Kent Niebuhr, Gary Broviak.

Words can't express how deeply sorry I am about hearing Jason's passing. He was a great guy and a friend to many. He always wanted to know how my son was doing. I enjoyed the short time I did work for you. I will miss you coming into Jake's and talking smart with the guys on table 5 and then you all day Hi Dana real loud.
I bet the reunion with your dad was wonderful.
The town lost a good one.
Praying for the family.

You will be truly missed. I've known ya since school, watched you trick the teachers and sleep during class, hit me with your cane deliberitlly to mess with me. Not sure who I'll have take care of my computer since my daughter recently just downloaded Sims 4 again, the one that made my computer crash last year, which you straightened out with no issues at all.. My last memory would be from the car show you telling me hopefully I win the bike show because you seen all the bikes on main Street. You are an inspiration and you are always a fresh of breath air. You will be truly missed by all.

Our family was deeply saddened when we heard of Jason passing away. We enjoyed having him come into our family business and he loved our dogs that we have had in the store. Our current dog, Roxy, felt like she was helping him by following him around in the store. He loved it and would even get down on the floor to rub her belly. He also had a great sense of humor like you said in the obituary. One time when he was in our store he asked to use our restroom. I escorted him back to it and automatically turned on the light. Then with a grin he responded, "Do you really think I need the light on?" Nothing got by the blind guy like his motto states. We pray for your healing of your loss and we pray for the town of Wells as they too are in mourning with you. Your friends at Weaver's Leather Store

I was deeply saddened after hearing the news of Jason's passing. He was so helpful when it came to fixing computers for my family, especially for my sister Jennifer Bidne. I still have the plant Jason gave to my family when Jennifer passed almost two years ago.

I will especially miss talking shop with him, us being both computer nerds.

Keeping your family in my thoughts, especially your cousin Christine (my sister Jeanette and I went to school with her).

We met Jason last year when he sold and installed a new antenna for us. He actually went up on the roof when something wasn't quite working right. We were amazed st his ability to do everything that was associated with the sale. He was a hoot! So sorry for your loss by his sudden death. You are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

I am so sorry Becky. I didn't know him well , but on the few occasions I was around him he was a good ( and funny ) guy. I just saw him the Monday before. I couldn't believe the news when we found out about the accident when we were up north. Far too soon to lose such a well liked man. Gods speed Jason.

Jason my nephew was the most amazing person I have ever known. He was totally blind but you would know it. He never let anything stop him from doing anything. He amazed me continuously. Riding mini bikes, driving tractors, climbing on roofs to install equipment. I am so sad he has left us. Jason my dear nephew Jason we all loved you so much. You truly inspired me. You will be missed.
God bless you my sweet nephew Jason.

Dear Becky,
This is so hard for me to write. I have so many things I would like to say. Jason was such a wonderful person and I loved him. I can still see him hooking up my computer.....he sure didn't look like he was blind! I remember Mark was here and I sent him to watch and when he walked out shaking his head....he said, I almost ask him if he wanted the light turned on. He was such a remarkable person and didn't deserve this at all. So many people will miss him, but there are so many happy memories. God knows best and that we are not able to understand at a time like this, but He takes the very best first. And I know Jason was one of the very best~ God bless his memory. This is written to one of my most wonderful families I have ever known. I love you Becky and will pray for you and the whole family...God is good and helps us at such an awful time.....pray and take care.....Love, MargieL

Where do I begin? I first met Jason when I moved to Wells from New York. I met him I believe it was at Second Chances and Betty introduced me to him. He told me who he was and what he did. I was shocked to hear that he fixed computers but I didn't doubt him. We soon grew a strong friendship over computers and what to do when things went wrong with them and all. I remember doing Kernels days with him and riding on his float and throwing candy. I also remember trying to guide him when doing the slowest tractor. I remember our late night conversations when I moved back to NY and having to remind him that I now was a hour ahead of him. Jason thanks for the help and the memories. God bless your family. I'll miss ya bud.

Jason was a very good friend of mine. We shared many lunch times at the Loud and Obnoxious table at Jake's. He was an amazing person not for just what accomplished, but with the way he conducted himself in life. I am lost for words to share your grief. I will miss him very much and will always keep him in my thoughts. What a guy!

I have a couple distinct memories with Jason - I remember helping him with some DOS command stuff back when he was going to school because his screen reader software wouldn't pick up anything in the terminal window.

I also remember purchasing a laptop from him and visiting his home/office on a few different occasions. He will be missed!

Prayers for Jason's family. Our hearts are broken along with yours. We didn't know Jason as long as we hoped to, but for the time we knew him, he was a great guy, full of jokes and liked to pick on Darrel and himself with a laugh at the end.

He was such an inspiration for everyone, showing the world that you can do whatever you want if you put your mind to it.

Now Heaven has a computer tech to help them along the way. Go live your dreams Jason, we'll miss you
