Rick Moore Obituary

Published by Porter Loring Mortuary North on Oct. 5, 2019.
Rick R. Moore departed this earth on October 5, 2019 following a six-year battle with renal cell carcinoma. Family to him was his spouse and the love of his life, Bradley T. Dunford, and a close circle of friends who were the jewels of his life. Rick attended the University of Oklahoma for undergraduate studies and law school with academic achievement being the root of his professional success. He began his early career in Oklahoma City in a large law firm and became partner at a young age working in the corporate transaction department. While working at the law firm in Oklahoma City, one of his greatest joys was always working on the establishment of the National Museum of Wildlife Art. After seventeen years with the law firm, he came to work for the noted philanthropist, Linda Pace, in San Antonio, Texas. He immediately began working on the establishment of the Linda Pace Foundation and the early plans for Linda's desire to create a contemporary art center in San Antonio to house her ever growing collection of contemporary art. Today, that dream has been realized with the opening of the Ruby City Contemporary Art Center on October 13, 2019. He continued as President of the Linda Pace Foundation until his death. In January of 2010, he became CEO and General Counsel for a prominent family in San Antonio establishing their family office and private trust company in South Dakota. He led all aspects of the culture, relationships, operations and legal planning for the family with a very close competent dedicated staff. While there will not be a service for Rick, anyone may celebrate Rick's life with memorials to Ruby City made payable to Pace Exhibitions, LLC, P.O. Box 830607, SAT, 78283.

I admitted Rick to the hospital in San Antonio, then left on vacation to Jackson Hole the next day. Was blessed to have some alone time, and just happened to find the wonderful Wildlife Museum on the road between the airport and the city. What a wonderful place !! Meandered for about two hours, till I got a call from my friends arriving at the airport. Showed them the wonderful sculptures there as well. Only spoke with him for a short time, and neither of us mentioned art or Jackson Hole. Still believe he led me there somehow. When I came back, he had passed. Wish we had had more time,, but happy to know that his passion lives on, and I share that story, as he remains a light for me, to this day. Condolences to his family and loved ones.

A gentleman and a scholar. Privileged to learn from him. Rest in peace Rick as you are probably the brightest star up in heaven now. Shine brightly for us all. Thoughts go out to you Bradley.

I was so saddened to see Rick's obit in the Daily Oklahoman yesterday. Close friends in middle school, completely lost track of him after we were assigned to different high schools. One of the smartest, kindest people I ever knew. And he was like that in middle school, home of the awfullest human impulses. So glad to see he lived a full life full of love and accomplishment. My deepest condolences to Bradley and Rick's family and friends.

I had the honor and privilege of working alongside Rick for many years at our firm in OKC. We spent untold hours discussing legal issues and deals, as well as family and life events. Rick's calm, reasoned and intelligent approach in dealing with and resolving matters was always refreshing and welcome. His personal and professional skills were exceptional and he utilized them often to achieve the right results. I am fortunate to have had him as a colleague and friend and will always remember his hardy and infectious laugh. Peace Rick!

My thoughts and prayers are with family and friends. Rick, or Ricky Ray, was a wonderful person to know and work with. It was a great loss to Oklahoma City when he left for San Antonio! Always kind and supportive under all circumstances. You will be greatly missed!

The world is truly a better place because of Rick Moore-he was brilliant, beautiful, kind, loving, and generous. My heart is shattered by his passing, however, my life was enriched and blessed by the friendship we shared. Rick and Brad rolls off of my tongue still, and always will. May you both Rest In Peace....love always...

I had the pleasure of interviewing Rick as an associate lawyer in OKC and then watching him grow into a first class lawyer and close friend. A great human being and genuine person! It was an honor to to have known him. He gave more than he took from this world and there are few that can achieve that goal. RIP my friend!!
