I wasn't super close friends with Daniel, but I always enjoyed meeting him for the occasional dinner or group hangout. Every time I met him, he was always smiling, and he was a very positive presence to be around. I wish I had the chance to have gotten to know him better during our college days. He will be sorely missed.

Condolences to the Abaya-Duazo family. We are so shocked by this news. We met Daniel when he was still in high school in their home in Brownsville, TX. Tita Florie and Tito Jerry hosted a dinner for us when we were there in 2010. They were such a warm family and gave us advice on how to raise our very young kids then (to which we still follow to this day). We are so saddened and sorry for their loss. We pray for the eternal repose of Daniel's soul.

I am so lost for words. I remember Daniel growing up and his dad being a proud dad as he competed in chest and in taking up after dad. I remember him with his sister being in separable as they played with my son after school. Florina, as a mother I can't bare to thing the pain you are feeling, I send you my love and with the warmest of hugs.
