There is a song "Growing Up To Goodbyes" with the lyric "You can't take back the good times that you've given me, so don't you try......Don was a childhood friend and schoolmate We lived across the street from each other growing up and were friends. We reconnected recently and Don reminded me of a lot of the good times that I had forgotten. I won't forget. My love and prayers to your family.

My condolences to the family. He is gone too soon.

I only knew Don one year at the fraternity but I can still see him and hear his deep hoarse booming voice

My heart is broken to learn my dear friend and fraternity brother, Don "Rock" Bedrick passed away.

I was a freshman in 1968 at the University of Pennsylvania, miles away from home, when I wandered into the house on 3914 Spruce Street in Philadelphia, a/k/a Beta Sigma Rho. Don was the Rush Chair and we bonded immediately. He "sold" me on Beta Sig, but then again, Rock could sell ice to an Eskimo. Through "rush" and pledging, he was a guide, a friend, and mentor. (Of course the details of said activities remain sealed per Rock's Rules.)

We were close throughout college: studying, partying, and trying to survive the turbulent 60's, the draft, and assorted challenges. I lived on the second floor, but Rock lived in the attic above the 3rd floor, in a room we called "Heaven." You had to walk up one flight of stairs and then climb another flight almost straight up. It was like a trek to meet the man at the top of the mountain, but Rock was always around for at talk, a beer, a later night pizza run to Pagano's or anything else that came to mind. He even taught me about Fall River, Mass and some quaint folk songs of the town. I hope to visit there one day and I will think of Donald.

Rock was a special person and we stayed in touch after graduation. He moved near my sister in Yardley, so I kept up on his tough fight over the years. He never gave in or gave up. He was that kind of guy.

Rock: you touched my heart and those of my brothers in fraternity.

We will miss you and we mourn your passing.

Don was the unmistakable leader during my years as a brother (fellow) at Beta Sigma Rho, University of Pennsylvania. He selected our vocabulary, defined the words, and decided the way we would pronounce them. What can I say? It was beef. Merely, Don, merely.

Karen: Lynn and I want to convey our sympathies to you and the family. Things we remember fondly... overhearing Don and Jeff's laughing in the patio on warm summer nights, his great 65th birthday party (roast?) where we all were laughing, his big old car, his political rants in the local newspaper. He was a lovable character and we will miss him.
