Kevin M. Yurik, age 51, devoted husband of Melissa (Santora), dedicated father of Joseph, Kevin and Michael. Son of Michael J. Yurik (deceased) and Laurie Yurik. For many years, Kevin was a successful Mortgage Loan Officer, however, his true passion was for sports. Kevin was a dedicated and devoted coach for football and basketball teams at Valley Forge High School, North Royalton High School and Padua High School over the course of 20 years. Kevin also spent time mentoring and coaching within adaptive sports programs put on by the Achievement Centers for Children. Throughout his many years of coaching and mentoring, Kevin developed an extended family throughout Northeast Ohio. His interest in the well being of his players was not only confined to the playing field, as you would often find him going out of his way to give players rides to and from practice, talking players through issues within their lives, and reaching out to others to assist players in getting jobs and internships. Most coveted by him were the relationships built through his coaching experiences with colleagues, opponents, and most of all, his players. These relationships were carried by him throughout his life, and whether he saw a former player once a month, or once in a decade, the impact he had on their lives was always evident. He was a lifelong fan of the Wisconsin Badgers, and the UCLA Bruins, along with being a diehard fan of the Indians, Cavaliers, and most dear to his heart, the Browns (a team he followed long before his 20 years of being a season ticket holder). While being a fan of these teams was often stressful, he remained loyal to these teams throughout his life, traveling far and wide to root them on, all the while passing these fandoms on to his sons. Kevin passed away after a short battle with cancer on December 19, 2019 surrounded by his family and loved ones. Whether it be for his contributions as a coach, mentor, and coworker, his eternal support for his sports teams, or most of all, his loving nature as a husband, father, and friend, he will be forever remembered and missed by many. Memorials may be forwarded to Coach to Cure, Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, 401 Hackensack Avenue (9th Floor), Hackensack NJ 07602. Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 7501 Ridge Road, Parma from 3-8pm on Sunday, December 22. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 23 at 1:30pm at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 5891 Ridge Road, Parma. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park. 440-842-7800. www.buschcares.com

Melissa, Joey, Kevin, and Mikey you are all in my prayers. I am so sorry for your loss. I have many good memories of Kevin from high school. It was great to reconnect when he coached my boys in baseball. He was clearly devoted to his family and coaching. Im sure he has influenced many lives and he will be remembered fondly for years to come.

Said Farewell to a great man tonight. He leaves behind a Beautiful young wife, and three young sons. A man maybe 6-7 years ago i did not know. Over the years as my two sons got involved in school sports i have become to know this man. At first we would do the man nod, he knew my boys and i knew a bit on who he was. Then one day as i was sitting in the stands at a school basketball game he came up and sat next to me. I told him i think one of my boys have you for a teacher, he smiled and said no. I dont think so, i said yeah, i think.... he smiled again and said i dont think so... we laughed... he continued, he is not a Teacher... he is a father of one of the boys on the team, which i knew that... i said maybe your not one of their teachers.... we exchanged in some quick friendly conversation, and he went back down to the side lines... over the years we would bump into each other. And talk ... one day a year ago my wife and i bumped in to him and his wife, we talked for almost an hour.... at the end of our conversation we left it at Hey, we will get together soon .... my wife and i said to esch other, They are do nice.... as time went by and i would go by the school id think about the good times we had at the events up at Forge, and i would think about those we met along the way, this young man being in my thoughts many times then... one day i get a text from my son Ben, telling me coach had passed this week. My heart sank, i quickly sent a text to other parents, to my dismay it was true. I thought about coach and his family all night... so tonight I greet the Family at The Funeral home the boys have grown into fine young men... his wife, in good spirits considering this sad time in her life, greets us and we reflect on our long visit at Home depot..... chatting and laughing..... we go say a final farwell to Coach Kevin Yurik, at 51 takin from our lives to soon from cancer.... a man that touched so many lives including ours, a man that was loved by so many that the line was out the door all afternoon... many that we spent hours in the stands with watching our boys grow now come together to pay our last respects to a great coach, friend, husband and father... a great man that i never got the chance to know better... May God bless Coach Yurik and his family and may time quickly heal the pain of losing one loved so dearly by many.

I always enjoyed talking to Kevin, mostly about basketball. His passion for teaching the game, as well as building relationships, was certainly evident. He touched many players lives, as well as coaches. Kevin was a student of the game and always looked to improve. Kevin, you will be missed and thank you! Prayers to his family!

My deepest condolences to your beautiful family. Coach Yurik (who never actually was my coach, but that was his name all of Valley Forge knew him by!) was always so funny to me, especially when Coach Porach was around! He left a great impression on every kid he coached, every kid he taught the games, when he would joke with all of us, or when he told me we could split a beer when i turned 21. Sadly, that never got to happen. But i think we can still split one when we all meet again. May God be with him and with you guys always. My prayers to you all.
