Richard "Dick" Allen

Richard L. "Dick" Allen of Newark, DE, age 76, passed away on Tuesday, January 21, 2020. Dick was born on September 20, 1943 in Wilmington, DE to the late William Henry Allen Sr. and Mildred Ruth (Clemens) Allen. Dick worked for Acme for over 40 years and also worked part time at Berrodin Auto Parts as well as bartended for 40 years. He loved animals and loved to sing. He also enjoyed visiting Rehoboth Beach and Ocean City Beach. Dick was a sports enthusiast and really enjoyed watching sports, especially the 49ers. Dick is survived by his nephew, Glenn Reedy with his wife Denise; nephew, Curtis Reedy, Jr.; niece, Susan Plourde with her husband Don; aunt, Betty Clemens; 8 great nieces and nephews and 10 great-great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by his brother, William Allen Jr.; sisters, Judy Darling and Janet Reedy; nephews, Mark and Bruce Reedy; grandparents, Henry and Anna Clemens, Mr. & Mrs. Merryman Allen, Sr.; aunt, Helen Clemens and his four footed pal, Joey. A celebration of Dick's life will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 11:30 am at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home 122 W. Main Street Newark, DE 19711 where friends and family may start visiting at 10:00 am. Burial will be held immediately after the service at Ebenezer Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to "Seasons Hospice" and sent in care of the funeral home.
