A man's true measure of greatness, and his legacy to his family is something, Ive found, that could only be felt and, to outsiders, seen in the people he has loved.
So often people try to use vocabulary to complement a loved ones accomplishments, their character, honor, integrity, kindness and love.
The meaning of all these words are different to each individual And, for me, they end up failing to convey the way we feel about this person.
For me, when it comes to a man I look up to as an example of true manhood to this day; trying to use words to describe what he meant to me, is impossible with words.
My grandfather, Papa, is someone who gave people; everyone he met in fact, a feeling of being special, important and loved.
I never left the mans presence without a smile on my face, and feeling like I was special.
Papa was the epitome of generosity and would give to any in need, but no recklessly. He knew each time could be a chance to pass on a lesson of responsibility and at the very least, the urge to pay it forward.
Papa had an unmistakably unique sense of humor. I know that is something that all of us appreciated. It could break tension, form instant friendships, heal wounds and leave everyone with the knowledge everything truly was terrrrr - ific.
Papa, although your absence is causing me to ache badly and miss you, as much as a man can miss another, I am left with a feeling of peace and joy: gifts from you. I know you are at peace, smiling down on us now. It would be selfish of me to hold the pain your absence brings, So I move forward in joy and with love for family and friends.
One day soon, I know I too, will feel "terrrif-ic and am honored to be part of the legacy of my dear Papa. One that will endure on this earth forever. And one we will continue to perfect when we meet again some day.
I love you Papa.

Gerry and I would like to express our deepest sympathy on your loss. Jim was a wonderful man who knew how to light up a room. Your grief is raw now but in time, you will be able to look back and smile through the pain.

There is a ray of sunshine that anyone who knew Jim will be missing. He was such a loving father, husband and friend to all. Jim always had a big smile and was quick to laugh, always upbeat and never complained. I will always miss my wonderful cousin. Heaven will never be the same, get ready here he comes. Love you Jim.
