I was sorry to hear of Chi-Cheng's passing, I've known Chi since 1989 when I first started working for George G Sharp.
He was a wonderful person and was always ready to help you, in a crises he was there to solve any problems that came along. Although I worked in the Washington D.C. office he was always ready to help and share information that would help our project.
He was an excellent Naval Architect and his contribution to the Marine field was exceptional, he will be a great loss to all who knew him and I will miss him, and keep his family in my thoughts and prayers .

Dear Chi-Cheng, my outstanding long time friend for over 40 years, I will always remember your gentle personalitydiligent study spirit, and those happy years we were together inside the classrooms attending same courses at Columbia University. I think you are so good that the God want you to be by His side. May you now peacefully rest by His side eternally in Heaven.

Dear Cousin Chi-Cheng, I was so shocked to hear the bad news. You were a strong and energetic person. It is difficult to believe you have left us already.
You are kind, considerate and generous. You always put others before yourself. You are my big cousin whom I trust and respect a lot. I could talk to you about anything. You never hesitated to lend me a hand whenever I needed help.
You worked so hard. You made great contributions to the society and the country. You lived your life to the full extent.
Rest in peace! My dear cousin. I will miss you a lot!!!

Chi has always put others first and himself last. He has devoted his life to the field of Naval Architecture and to George G. Sharp. No matter how early I arrived in the morning, the lights were on and Chi was there and hunched over his board and engaged in work. No matter how late I left in the evening, Chi was there to say goodnight. As another cherished Sharp colleague put it, if you cut Chi, he would bleed Sharp. He loved the company, its legacy, its history, and its work, and by all metrics, Chi has distinguished himself as an equal to the company's legendary founder. Chi was very proud to be at the helm of America's oldest Naval Architecture firm. He was very proud of Sharp's work in defending the United States, ensuring safe commerce and the transport of goods, and the safe transport of millions of passengers. He was my co-worker, my mentor and my dear friend.

Chi-Cheng was one of the persons who were most unselfish, strong commitment to his work, tremendously talented and always put other people before himself. I know him, I love him, and I respect him. Chi-Cheng and I went all the way back to our high school days in Taiwan. We then went to Kansas State University for graduate school, and we also went to work in New York City. I still remember that we shared many weekends together - playing basketball and having dinners at China Town, watching TV together. When my wife was pregnant with our first child and she could not ride the subway to work because it was too rough for her. Chi-Cheng offered his car to take my wife and I from Queens to Wall Street area and back everyday until my son was born. He committed to his friends and family faithfully and strongly. His first job was with George C. Sharp and he worked all his life for the company. Every year we discussed his retirement and all the challenges he faced as the head of the company. In December 2019, we talked over the phone again on his retirement. He finally told me that he would retire in 2020 because he wanted George C. Sharp company seeing its 100th year anniversary. He cared the company and its employees so much that he wanted to lead the company to its 100th year anniversary !
Chi-Cheng, I love you, I respect you and I admire your strong commitment and characters. You have made most remarkable contributions to your family, company and your friends. Rest in peace, my old friend, you are a hero, you have done what you set to do and you did it beautifully. With lasting love, George and Gale Kan
