I graduated with Lindsay in 1961. He was a great person. One of the naturally strongest people I have known. For barbells he used a traincar axle with the wheels attached. But a gentle giant. His exploits on the football field will be remembered by many. He will be missed.

Sandra and Family, My family and I are thinking of you at this difficult time in your lives. Lindsey held a very special place in our hearts and especially Jack's. He always liked to talk about those football championship years when Lindsey was playing and loved talking to him through the years. Lindsey was indeed an outstanding athlete. As you face the difficult days ahead please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

As a neighbor to Lindsay's brother Earl, I had the pleasure of speaking with Lindsay on many occasions. As a high school boy growing up, I worked with him for one summer in construction. Lindsay was always very kind, soft-spoken and very good at his job. My condolences to Earl and Norma, to Sandra,
And to all of the Sikes family.

My Uncle Lindsay was a vital part of my growing up years, and in many of my earliest memories, he is there. It's not surprising because little kids, and I was one of them back then, just naturally took a liking to him and he to them. I suppose I saw him more than anyone besides my own nuclear family because he worked with my father, and his days usually started at my house and ended there. There are so many good memories I will always carry of him.

The best times I ever had fishing, I was with him. I also hunted with him, and he knew what he was doing out there in the woods and fields, too. When I was older, I worked with him, or, as was often the case, it was more like I watched him work and got out of his way. He could do just about anything with tools, he was good at what he did, and he was fast. He also had a way with plants, keeping lush gardens with plenty of good produce that he was always more than willing to share.

Even though he was so big and strong, a hulking presence earning him the nickname Bull Moose, he was a sweet guy. My daughter called me when she heard my uncle passed, and that's the word she used to describe him-- sweet. When I hung up, I recalled a time we came to visit, and out in the back room of the huge shed he built, he prepared a sumptuous seafood lunch for us with what he had caught himself. There in the place he'd built, he shared food he caught, and he even cooked it for us. And it was good. Really good. My uncle was that kind of man.
