John R. 'Cal' Calson

Mr. John R. 'Cal' Calson, of Ormond Beach, Florida, formerly of Waltham and Burlington, died peacefully in his home on May 2, 2020. He was 73 years old. Cal was born in Waltham on January 6, 1947, the son of the late Salvatore and Doreen (Stapleford) Calson. After graduating from Waltham High School in 1966 he began his career in auto body repair and owned and operated Cal's Auto Service on Clematis Ave. in Waltham for a number of years. In 1968 he married his high school sweetheart, Nancy J. Silva. The pair lived in Waltham for a time before settling in Burlington where they would raise their two sons and live for almost 25 years. Retirement afforded them the opportunity to relocate to Ormond Beach, Florida. Cal had a passion for cars, especially Mustang Hotrods. He will be remembered for his bigger than life, friendly personality. He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy J. (Silva) Calson; his sons, Steve P. Calson of Chelmsford and Scott M. Calson (Kelly Foster) of Manchester, NH; his siblings, David Calson (Ann) of Maynard, Sandy Calson of Dover, NH and Phillip Calson of Troy, NY; his sister-in-law, Nancy Silva (late John 'Jack). Funeral services are private.
