Roy Wesley Allsup Jr.

Roy Wesley Allsup, Jr., age 75, of McHenry, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 31, 2020. Roy was born July 8, 1944, in Lake Forest, IL, the son of Roy Wesley,Sr. and Mary (nee Blank) Allsup. After graduating from high school, Roy proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War, before being Honorably Discharged. For many years Roy was self-employed as a carpet layer. Later he went to work for the Veterans Assistance Commission (V.O.C.), as a driver, driving different veterans to their appointments. Roy was a proud United States Marine! He had served as a McHenry Volunteer Fireman and enjoyed hanging with his fellow veterans and being at the Polish Legion of American Veterans (P.L.A.V.). Roy is survived by his son, Roy Wesley Allsup, III; granddaughters, Kerri Richards and Mickayla Sossong; good friend, Tony Handzel; and all his fellow veterans at the P.L.A.V. In addition to his parents, Roy, Sr. and Mary Allsup, Roy was preceded in death by his daughter, Jackie Allsup; and son, Timothy Sossong. A Celebration of Life for Roy is being planned for a later time.
