Mike was a family friend, along with his family, since I was a kid living in Fort Dodge, IA. He was the most outgoing person I've ever known and always wanted to know how you, and your family were doing. He was passionate about his knowledge of feeding of animals, which is widely known. I'm sad for David and Shelly. Mike rest in peace!

I met Mike in Kansas City Missouri at the Sprint Center.He loved sports and his family. He was a great man! I'm so sorry for the familys loss.

Mike was a great friend and colleague. I first met Mike in 1986 when I joined the Land O'Lakes Animal Milk sales team. He was a gifted animal scientist who made significant contributions to the dairy industry and in particular to the evolution of the nutrition and management of the pre-weaned calf. It was an honor to work with him from 1986 to the time of his retirement. We worked hard, yet had lots of fun working with the many great people in our industry. I remember many "Planes & Automobile" moments with Mike, some frustrating however mostly hilarious! With Mike as a travel mate, it was never boring. One of Mike's greatest strengths as part of our team was his ability to build relationships with people and really get to know them. He always took extensive notes, and not only of our business conversations; but of the people we interacted with. Their family member names, where they grew up, the university they attended ... and of course if they were ever in 4-H. He took the time to learn these details about people out of true curiosity and caring for the people he interacted with.

Mike was such a great friend! Mike called on me for many years while I was at Murphy Farms/Murphy-Brown. We became very good friends over those many years and we shared many a memory together when we were able to connect at the various shows. Mike was always a good conservationist, we would talk about anything and everything, we had passion for livestock of course, and work as well, but most of all he was just a great friend! I know his family will miss him, as will the many, many friends whom he touched throughout his fantastic career. God Bless you Mike!

During the first half of Mike's time at Land O Lakes I worked with Mike and we're Neighbors at Ft Dodge.We shared a lot of interesting work experiences. We stayed in touch over the years up until COVID stopped our coffee group meeting at North Grand. He always ask are we going to win

I met Mike at Bethesda and we always enjoyed visiting about his days in Stanley, Iowa. He was in 8th grade and his Dad was the superintendent and his mother a teacher there. He had a great memory of his fellow students. We also enjoyed talking about old Iowa State days and Cyclone sports! Never had enough time to solve all the worlds problems. Mike will be missed. Rest in Peace my friend.

My husband Steve and I loved to talk to Mike after services at Bethesda. He was such a Cyclones fan!! He always had a friendly, positive outlook. We were so sorry to hear about his passing. Since the COVID shutdown, we haven't been able to see a lot of people.

Mike followed me into Hamilton Co. Extension before joining Land O'Lakes and we met up with each other at Animal Science conferences in subsequent years.
Mike was a successful animal science consultant and made many friends for Land O'Lakes.
Mick and my son Randy were members of the Sat. morning Town & Country Kiwanis club in Ames. He and Randy attended several Iowa State big 12 basketball tournaments in Kansas City.

I had the great opportunity to get to know Mike through TechMix. We shared a lot of basketball and I Cubs games together. Just this past spring Mike took my Daughter and I to one of the last Iowa State home Basketball games.
I will always remember Mike as a caring compassionate person that would do anything to help you out. When he was passionate about something that he relentless in finding the answers. Myself and the entire TechMix team will miss him dearly.

My husband, Don Eggerling, and I were friends of Mike's. For a time we were in the same bridge club with Mike, Dee, the Axlands, and the Roehrs. We shared many a good story and hearty laugh with that bunch. I enjoyed Dee's refreshments served on her Grandma's beautiful dishes.
Mike liked to greet us at Bethesda after worship and talk about the Cyclone game from the day before. We have a Cyclone flag that we hang on our garage doors when the Cyclones have a game in town. We got it because Mike sold us on his vision that the entire street should be lined with Cyclone flags.
Rest in peace, Mike. We will proudly fly the Cyclone flag and not let our side of the street down.

Sorry to hear about Mike's passing. We know the last couple of years have been a struggle for both Mike and his family. We will certainly miss his "How about those Cyclones?"greeting. Many fond memories of Mike from the "10 o"clock coffee group", card club, and church groups. Ardie remembers Mike being one of the last guys to leave Oak Hall when he was dating Dee at ISU. May he rest in peace.

Mike's enthusiasm and energy will be missed. I joined Land O'Lakes in 1984 in the seed group but Mike reached out and initiated a friendship even though he worked in a different area and a different location. It helped that I also was an Iowa State alumnus and we always had things to talk about. In 2004 I had the pleasure of joining the LOL Animal Milk Products group and saw how Mike added value to the company's image and made it fun to work together. He and Dee were key participants to make sure that everyone felt welcomed and to fit into the AMP culture. After he retired we established the Mike Fowler award to individuals who went above and beyond, as nominated by AMP employees. Mike will be missed but not forgotten!

Mike was a wonderful colleague. I traveled many days and nights with Mike in the eastern half the US for Land O'Lakes Animal Milk Products. He was always very inquisitive to the point of exhaustion. Mike was truly interested in people and their background. Mike's favorite questions when meeting a new customer were; Where you in 4H? Where you in FFA? What college/university did you graduation from? He kept detailed notes on people's backgrounds and family to ensure he would be able to ask more questions the next time he met the customer. Mike was a great friend and coworker. Whether I wanted to or not, Mike made sure I knew how IA State Cyclones were doing in the various sports. He was MR. CYCLONE.

Mike is my dad, Tom Straub's, cousin. I met him a few times when my dad came to visit us in Ogden. We met Mike for lunch. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. My dad wanted to pass along his condolences.
