On Friday, August 14, 2020, Marcy Alves, went to sleep in the arms of Jesus. She anticipated her life in this world would end in a short rest in the arms of her Savior as she awaited her "Blessed Hope"—the resurrection of her body—in Christ at His soon-appearing. On a fair, mostly cloudy April 12, 1945 in Alexandria, VA., James and Jessie Mae Devers gave birth to Marcella Marie Devers. They raised their family of seven on a small farm without running water or electricity, in nearby Franconia. Neighbors took Marcy to church where--as a young teen--she came to know Christ as her Lord and Savior. Following her graduation from Thomas Jefferson high school, she co-led Youth for Christ rallies in Washington D.C., and sang, studied at, and graduated from Philadelphia College of the Bible (now Cairn University), Marcy gave herself joyfully and tirelessly to Christian ministry. Marcy's God-assigned mission was to place the hands of those who did not know the Father into His loving Hand. She spoke inspirationally, recorded her music, sang, and shared the beautiful news of the Kingdom of God, both domestically and internationally, with thousands of people, in hundreds of church and conference venues. Domestically, she was a dynamic, featured singer-speaker for decades, with Stonecroft Ministries'—Christian Womens' and "After 5" Clubs. Internationally, Marcy's ministry of music and testimony of Jesus took her to Australia, Haiti, Brazil, and Canada, where she was featured on national TV. Marcy lived an authentic, personal relationship to Christ Jesus before her family and all who knew her. Her devotion to Him animated a lifetime of caring and sacrifice for others. She never knowingly placed herself first. She typically made life easier for others. Her life reflected selfless servanthood, feminine grace, genuine humility, and a razor-sharp passion for everyone to know the forgiveness of sin available at the cross of Christ, and the joyful freedom of life and love in Christ. Her wit and humor were hallmarks of her inner joy. Her laugh, infectious. Marcy is survived by her husband of 42 years, the Reverend Dr. David C. Alves, their daughter Tammy Lynn Ridlon, and son-in-law, Lew Ridlon. Her sister, Lorita Mullins, and two brothers Ray Devers and Gerry Devers and sister-in-law, Kathy; her sisters-in-law Beverly Devers and Louise Devers, along with many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a parcel of spiritual sons and daughters whom she mentored along their spiritual journeys over the years. Marcy was predeceased by her mother and father, brothers, Lester, Mike, and Harvey Devers and several uncles and aunts. Marcy will be deeply missed by her family, extended family, friends, and all who knew and loved her. ARRANGEMENTS: A Memorial Celebration of Marcy's Life is scheduled for 1pm Saturday, October 17th at Grace Capital Church, 542 Pembroke Street, Pembroke, NH. Assisting the family with arrangements is the Cremation Society of NH. Boscawen and Family Bible Church of Loudon, NH. I have fond memories of Marcie's ministry... She sang with Found Free at my church in Boston and later I was able to interview her when I worked with WEZE Christian radio in Boston. Her love of Jesus bubbled up and touched you with His love. Bob Anderson 2/20/23 PCB 71

David, Ann and I are grieved at the news of Marcy’s passing in mid August. We know she has had a brave struggle in recent years, and we are grateful for your love and care for her all these years, and especially in these last few years when your support has meant so much to her. We’ve loved knowing Marcy since our days at GCTS in the mid 80’s, and have been privileged by your friendship and visits when our vocations and calendars have allowed us that joy. You two sang in our wedding on your anniversary in ‘84, and we’ve shared that date with you since! Our lives have been forever enriched by your friendship and many prayers. We will pray for you, Tammy and Lew, and Marcy’s family.

Just saw where Marcy was called Home. David, I remember you both well; was part of Dot's team for Women Alive retreats and played for Marcy many times. I so enjoyed your fellowship during those times of ministry together. Praying for God's peace and comfort as you face life without your sweet wife. Another reason to long for heaven!!

I knew you Marcy for only a short time, mainly by letters. I loved your wisdom and friendship. It is my loss to have just looked you up again on the internet to discover you have gone to heaven. I have never forgotten you. Rest in Peace.

I was mightily blessed every time Marci and David came to Tabernacle United Methodist Church. I am forever thankful for how you showed me in my formative teenage years how to love Jesus and how to love each other. Marci's passing is both sad and joyful, because I know that she is in Heaven with Jesus!!! We will miss her, but now she is whole again in his presence. Thank you for your example Marci, I am forever grateful! In His Love Beth Benfer (Landis)

On behalf of "Sudbury Christian Women's Connection Luncheons" in MA, we want to extend our heartfelt sympathy to Marcy's family. She has been our speaker multiple times over the years. She would give a beautiful account each time of how she received Jesus as her Lord and Savior and also let us know what He was doing in her life over the years. Many women came to make a decision for Christ through her. We will miss her because during this "zoom" pandemic we definitely would have wanted her as a speaker again. Our hearts are very sad. Our team will pray for comfort for her friends and family. love, SCWC team (Margie Langsdorf, Janice Owen, Candy Bishop, Joan Hinterseer, Marlene Bober, Ruthie August, Iva Brown, Marge Lund, Jane Bungard, Bev Guild, Sophia Harrell, Carol Davis, Kathryn Kidd, Linda Devlin,

Marcy was a special woman of faith who has come to sing and share her story with women through Stonecroft Ministries and our groups in Connecticut. She has stayed over at my home many times and I will miss her sweet, gentle, soul who loved Jesus with all her heart. May God be with her husband and family as they grieve her loss while Marcy is cared for in heaven with her Lord.

The impact of Marcy's life has been and I quote: " like when a stone is dropped into a lake, it quickly disappears from sight - but its impact leaves behind a series of ripples that broaden and reach across the water. In the same way, the impact of one life lived for Christ will leave behind an influence for good that will reach the lives of many! author Roy Lessin" And so it is with my friend. Marcy has truly lived out such an impactful life. She was a true friend and a great blessing in my life. I look forward to the day when we can be together again and I thank the Father with every remembrance of you Marcy.

Though we never talked in depth, I remember how deeply I was impressed when I first met Marcy at Beebe Campmeeting several years ago. One could sense how well she knew her Lord. What blessed memories. Awesome joy awaits her at the Resurrection.

David and Marcy's beautiful music had such an impact on my life as a young person, and she was truly a role model for me and many other young women around me. May her loved ones truly know the peace that surpasses all understanding in this time, and may her memory be a blessing to us all.
