Robert Cook Obituary

Published by Sneider & Sullivan & O’Connell’s Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Sep. 1, 2020.
Robert Charles Cook passed away on September 1, 2020. He is now finally at peace and reunited with his wife in heaven after an incredible fight with lymphoma. A native of the San Francisco Peninsula, Bob grew up in Portola Valley and graduated from Woodside High School where he met the love of his life Kenda. Truly defining the term "High School Sweethearts", the two were married on May 15, 1965 and resided in San Mateo and Foster City. Bob served in the Army National Guard after high school. Bob was very active in the early seventies in the San Mateo Host Lions Club, where he served as President and received the Lion of the Year award in 1972-73. Bob is survived by one child, Robert (Aleta), and two Grandchildren (Ben and Allison). He has one sister, Charlene (Christy) and is pre-deceased by his brother John (Vikki). He had one niece (Nicole), and one grandnephew (Declan). Bob loved being a Grandfather, a role he was especially proud of and truly enjoyed. Bob worked for his father for many years at his father's photography studio (Geoff Cook Studios in San Mateo) as a professional photographer. He later moved on to work at Pacific Telephone, which later became Pacific Bell for 23 years specializing in digital services. He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was an avid Giants and 49er fan over the years. Bob's wife Kenda passed in 1993. It was a loss from which he never fully recovered. After her passing, he remained active in the community by becoming an Amateur Radio Operator and worked as a Citizen Volunteer in Foster City. He loved to talk about politics with all his neighbors. He was a kind, honest man that lived the motto "Treat others the way that you would want to be treated" and "Always do the right thing, even when nobody is looking". He will be truly missed by his family and friends. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, there will be no formal services except for a brief service at the gravesite at Skyline Memorial Park on Tuesday, September 8, at 11am. For more details about this service, please contact his son Robert, at [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in his name to Mission Hospice or the Peninsula Humane Society.
