Jane (Pappi) MacNeil

MacNEIL, Jane (Pappi). Of Boston, died December 16, 2020. Beloved mother of David P. MacNeil and his wife Patricia M. MacNeil of Burke, Virginia, and the late Elizabeth MacNeil. Loving daughter of the late Alfred and Inez (Guidaboni) Pappi of Wareham. Beloved aunt of Elizabeth (Levy) Merrick and her husband Brian Merrick of Somerville. Sister of the late Margaret (Pappi) Levy of Stony Brook, NY, and Ann Pappi of Wareham. Jane was a retired Senior Project Editor in the Medical Division of Little Brown and Company. Besides being a lifelong bibliophile, she traveled extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, always eager to experience new cultures and appreciate what was best in them. Possessed of a sharp wit and feisty spirit, she was proudly independent yet at the same time deeply sensitive to those in need, from women in shelters to little animals. For years she served as a patient volunteer at Brigham and Women's Hospital and was a companion to shut-ins. She will be missed. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jane's memory to those who are abandoned, hurting, or alone. There will be a private Funeral Mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, Boston, followed by a private interment in St. Patrick Cemetery in Wareham.
