Estelle Moore Obituary

Published by Ames Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 30, 2020.
Estelle D Moore was born August 8, 1925 to the late Bessie Thomas Douglas and James H. Douglas. Estelle was the youngest of 5 children born from this union. Estelle was born and raised in Manassas VA. At age 5 she was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Manassas VA. Estelle received her education at the Manassas Industrial School and then she studied voice at the Howard University. It was during her time at Howard that she first met the man who would become the love of her life James W. Moor Sr. After a few years of dating on November 20, 1948 they were married at the First Baptist Church in Manassas VA. Estellle and Jimmy stayed in Manassas and raised their children James Jr and Andrea. Estelle always had a love for music, especially singing and playing the organ. Estelle had a beautiful soprano voice which led her to join the Manassas Choral Society during it's frist year in the 1960s. Estelle was proud of her participation in the Choral Society which was a volunteer group of people who would perform classic musicals such as Pajama Game, Brigadoon, and the Mikado to name a few. Estelle loved telling her children and grandchildren about the old days. She freely shared her love for music, education, and family history. Estelle loved to share memories and family history of her cousin Jennie Dean (the founder of the Manassas Industrial School) and especially her mother, Mrs. Bessie, and her affiliation with First Baptist. Estelle was preceded in death by her Sister, Bessie Rae Douglas; Brothers, Roosevelt, William, and Frederick; and her Nephew Calvin. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, James W. Moore, Jr (Tracey, deceased) and Andrea R Thomas; Grandchildren: James, Aaron, Christian, and Stephanie; Niece, Gladys R Minor; Nephews: Julius H. Pheney Jr and Antoinie D. Douglas along with many other relatives. To view the service remotely, please click on the following link: https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/92672636
