Albert D. Jones

Albert D. Jones, 95, a life long Newtown Borough resident, died on January 28, 2021 at Chandler Hall, Newtown. Born on September 6, 1925, Albert attended Newtown High School, where he also played baseball. Prior to graduating he enlisted in the U.S.Navy at 18. Albert received his High School Diploma several years ago in a ceremony honoring all local veterans who never graduated. After his military service, Albert returned to Newtown and joined the Newtown Fire Association in 1949. He is a 71-year member of the Fire Association having served as President, Chief, Assistant Chief, and other numerous positions . Albert is a retired Gas Supervisor from PECO after 42 years of service. After retirement Albert worked at Rhodes Flower and Gift Shop for 25 years, as well as volunteer work for Newtown Borough. He could often be seen in the downtown area, offering a friendly smile & wave. Albert was a devoted father, a caring and supportive grandfather and great grandfather, who rarely missed any of his grandchildren's activities. He was proud of his service to his country and Newtown Fire Association, and his family. Albert is the son of the late Charles and Emma Jones and husband of 67 years to the late Helen Smith Jones. He is the father of Kirk and his wife Patsy Jones, Rick Jones, and Bob and his wife Jan Jones, and grandfather of Chris (Sherri) Jones, Dale (Emmy) Jones, Tammy (Jim) Morton, Kimberly Jones, Kristin (Joe) Watson, Michael (Megan Adams) Jones, Matthew (Kim) Jones and Brittany (Steve) Gabriel. He is the great grandfather of 16 great grandchildren. Private services and interment with Military Honors will be held at the convenience of the family.
