James L. Borst

James L. Borst, 87, of Zeeland, passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2021. Jim was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on March 27, 1933, to Lamero and Gertrude (White) Borst. Jim married Evelyn Huizinga and they raised their family in Beaverdam. Jim drove for the Ottawa County Road Commission for 21 years before his retirement. In retirement he worked part time for Zeeland Lumber and also enjoyed playing pool and helping at the Bridge Youth Ministry Center. Jim also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's athletic events. Jim and Evelyn were longtime members of Beaverdam Reformed Church. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, son James A. Borst, grandson Christopher James Borst, and daughter-in-law Verna Borst. He is survived by his children: Bonnie and Rod Ball of Zeeland, Bob and Norma Borst of Zeeland, Gary and Kathy Borst of Muskegon, Larry Borst of Zeeland; 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, brothers: Jack and Arlene Borst, Bill and Eleanor Borst; in-laws: Carol Borst, Roger and Sue Huizinga. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, February 15, 2021, at Community Reformed Church, 10376 Felch Street, Zeeland 49464. Visitation will be 12:00-1:00 prior to the funeral service. Interment will be in Zeeland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Bridge Youth Ministry Center, or Hospice of Holland. Arrangements are by Yntema Funeral Home, Zeeland.
