Kevin John Pattison, 63, of Battle Creek died from lung cancer on Sunday, February 21, 2021. Kevin was born November 7, 1957, in Battle Creek, Michigan the son of Jack Edward and Margaret Corinne (Enking) Pattison. He lived in Battle Creek and attended Harper Creek Schools, moving with his family to Germany in 1965, then to Brussels, Belgium in 1967, and returning back to Battle Creek in 1972 when his family returned to the States. He graduated from Lakeview High School where he was known as a really good soccer player. He moved to Memphis, TN, in the early 1980's and returned to Battle Creek in the early 1990's. Kevin attended Kellogg Community College and Memphis State University in Memphis, Tennessee. Kevin was employed at the Post House, the former Covey's Pharmacy, as a forklift driver and in quality control at Johnson Controls, and in production for the Kellogg Company (those two scoops of raisins...yeah, that was him who put them in at one point...), to name a few occupations. Surviving are his sister, Nancy A. Pattison, M.D., of Grand Rapids, his brother, Attorney Richard A. "Rick" Pattison of Battle Creek, his nieces, and several cousins and their families. Kevin was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Russell V. Pattison. Kevin was an accomplished guitar player and loved Rock from the 60's and '70's. He loved the outdoors (especially the beach), nurturing gardens anywhere he could, and camping. He was a former member of the Battle Creek Jaycees and was chairperson of two original projects, "Calling Santa" and the "Senior Citizens Garden" for which he was named Jaycee of the Month in May of 1980. He also won the Jaycee Ugly Leg Contest once. Kevin will be remembered as a smart, kind, gentle soul, and a good listener. He was someone who would give you the shirt off his back. He made many friends at Senior Care Partners in his latter years and was known there for his sense of humor. He loved deeply but never married. Due to recent COVID-19 regulations (less than 25 people) a private memorial service was held for Kevin's family in the chapel at Memorial Park Cemetery. The service was recorded and those wishing to view the service may visit https://vimeo.com/517341817. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to American Lung Associaton, 55 W. Wacker Drive Suite 1150, Chicago, IL 60601.
