Susan Ann Gilbert Fagan, 82, widow of Charles William Fagan, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at Dominion Health Care Center. She was the eldest of 4 children. Susan was born in Stockbridge, GA, and the daughter of the late Wyatt Malcolm and Susie Irene Hightower Gilbert. Susan attended Tift College where she was pursuing a degree in home economics. She married the love of her life, Charles William Fagan on December 20, 1958. One interesting fact is Susan and Charles shared a wedding anniversary date with Charles' mother and daddy and his two sisters. Prior to being a mother, Susan worked as a bank teller in Pendleton, SC. She raised two daughters and she reentered the work place once her youngest entered the first grade. She worked as a Plant Pathologist with Clemson University and later as a receptionist at Redfern Health Clinic. She was always a volunteer at her daughters schools and was the taxi driver for all school activities. Susan was very active for 45 years at FBC clemson where she served on many committees and was an ordained deacon. Her greatest love was the college students and the ministry there. Mom also enjoyed her time at CUMC where she once again was very active in the student ministry helping with Sunday evening meals and mentoring young girls. Her last few years she attended Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley where she was a member of the Redeemed Bible Fellowship Sunday School Class. Susan was an excellent cook! She loved preparing meals for Clemson Students over a 60 year period where she fed hundreds if not thousands of students. She was active in her garden club for years, meals on wheels and taking meals to shut-In's and the sick. In 2001 Susan was honored as Tiger Brotherhood Mother of the Year a award she cherished! She truly had a servant's heart! Her last few years were hard. Dementia is a cruel disease but she remained the same sweet smiling Susan! The nurses and caretakers at Dominion Senior Living helped care for Susan until her last breath was drawn here on earth. Her family is forever grateful for the love and care you gave mama! She loved you all, she knew you loved her and she was safe! Susan missed Charles everyday! The love they shared was special and something to be admired and modeled! While our hearts are sad our memories are full of a sweet lady named Susan Ann, Doll, Susie Q, Susie, Mama, Friend, Grandmama, and GramGram! Fly high. Heaven just received their newest angel. She is preceded in death by her parents, Wyatt and Irene Gilbert, and husband Charles William Fagan. She is survived by her daughters; Melanie (Rusty) Guill, Seneca, SC and Debra (Wayne) Martin, Easley, SC; grandchildren: Kalyn (Brad) Jones, Davenport, FL, Carson Guill (fiancée Larsen Kiser) Greenville, SC, Brandon (Alexandra) Martin-Sinkus and first great granddaughter, Lottie, due July 2021, Orange Park, FL, Ashleigh Martin, San Diego, California; brothers, W.M. (Jean) Gilbert of San Antonio, TX, Stewart (Carol) Gilbert of Tifton, GA, and James Carl (Janice) Gilbert of Clarkesville, TX. Memorial services will be 4:00 PM, Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Clemson United Methodist Church. A Private Graveside Service will be held earlier at Memory Gardens in Clemson. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 PM, Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home & Cremations, Central-Clemson Commons. Due to Covid-19 Pandemic facial coverings and social distancing protocols will be observed. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association SC Chapter, 4600 Park Avenue, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209, Clemson Meals on Wheels, P.O. Susan was in charge of the student ministry when I went to Clemson in 1983. She taught me what agape love is all about. She truly showed God's love to everyone she met.

To the family, we send our prayers, sympathy , and love to you all. Susan was, indeed a special lady, always full of energy and always providing for others. Even thru dementia, she was smiling and loving. When I last saw her at Dominion, she was cheerful and, though she didn't know just who I was, she knew I was a friend and we shared hugs (before Covid). Such a lovely lady! Remember the good times and know she is in a very. special place now.

So many memories of sweet Susan from the time you first moved to Clemson in the early 60's. Susan was a Mom to many and always opened her home to the students. I was so privileged to be part of that adopted student group. So many memories of the fun times we spent in your home from babysitting when the girls were young, the wonderful meals and Charles's funny stories. Susan was a treasure. God used her in mighty ways nurturing the hundreds of students that passed through her life and home. Truly a life well lived for Gods Glory. Hugs and love to you all.

Hi to all in the family. Susan was a sweet, sweet lady. I worked across the street from her when she worked on campus at Clemson University, and of course knew her and Charles from church. I remember Susan's sweet smile which she never lost even with her dementia!! She will be soooo missed.

Condolences to the family. I met your mom while a grad student in the late '60s. She and I shared some "assignments" from Dr. Baxter back then and occasional interactions over the years, as residents of Clemson. Her kindness and ready smile were indeed, endearing qualities. Sharon Miller

Dear Family, Your mom was truly a God sent angel for me. When I returned to Clemson University in 2001 she took me under her wing and brought me into her family as if I had always belonged. She and Charles were two of the most loving people I knew. She will be missed so much. Her loving smile and ways will live on in our hearts and memory. I feel very blessed to have known her.
Much love to all of you.
