Robert J. Murphy

Robert J Murphy, 86 of Stoneham, formerly of Gloucester and Wakefield, passed peacefully on Thursday April 1 surrounded by his loving family. He shared 57 years of marriage with his beloved wife Jane, who predeceased him and with whom he raised 5 children; Jane & Bob Given of Reading, Susan & Louis Chinappi of Peabody, Bob & Sarah Murphy of Quincy, Beth and the late Stephen Murphy of Hamilton, Tricia and Brian Coffey of Lynnfield. His grandchildren were his pride and joy; David, Andrea, Sam, Hannah, Kevin & Kyleigh. He was always their number one fan regardless of their endeavors. He is survived by his sister Patricia Murphy of Indialantic, FL. Bob's family meant everything to him. He never missed a game, play, musical performance or recital. He could always be counted on to start a game of trivia or jeopardy, lead the carols at Christmastime or get a game of touch football started. Bob loved music, painting, woodworking, the ocean and Martha's Vineyard and after he retired he discovered the joys of baking. There is so much more, but he'd be saying 'let's wrap it up'.
