James Wehner Obituary

Published by WM. Slater & Sons, Inc. on Jun. 6, 2020.
Almost a year has gone by, June 6, 2020, since Jim passed away at 81-and1/2 (yes, he always laughed about the 1/2). Jim spent his early years in Manchester/Old Deutschtown where he was born, and always liked to talk about his German heritage. He attended St. Cyril's grade school and North Catholic High School. He retired from Sears in 1999 after nearly 50 years of service, first as a service tech on the road and later as a Supervisor. Jim could fix anything, and if he couldn't find a part to fix it, he crafted one. He liked to remodel and, if Heaven needs anything fixed, Jim's on the job. He loved washing and waxing his cars, specially his '99 Miata MX5. Jim loved the Spring season, always anxious to plant his vegetable garden and appreciating the beauty of blossoming flowers, especially his roses. So, we celebrate his life in the Spring! He enjoyed playing most sports but, he had a lifelong love of golf and was so proud of his only hole-in-one. Jim enjoyed grilling and cooking and entering contests, sweepstakes and 'special offers.' No summer was complete without a trip to Kennywood. Away from home, Jim enjoyed the tranquility of the seashore and its mesmerizing waves, sunrises and sunsets. Always the perfect gentlemen, Jim had a calming demeanor and many wonderful traits that made him an amazing, easy-going, all-around good guy. He was proud but humble, gentle but strong physically and emotionally, understanding, caring, loving, generous, honest, oh so patient and so very wise, kind to animals and everyone he met, would have your back and help you whenever you needed it. He never missed celebrating with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids at family gatherings. Jim had a spirit of optimism and positivity that he passed along to everyone he met, right to the end of his earthly life. Jim never gave up. He had such a strong will to live and a strong will to live and a strng unwavering faith. Giving up was never in his vocabulary. It will never be the same without him, but just know we will keep going because of the things he instilled in all of us. We will never forget someone who gave us so much to remember. He is forever in our hearts. Jim is survived by "the love of my life" Madonna his children, Patti, Jay, Michael, Lori and John and their spouses; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; his brother, Bill and his sister, Barbara. His sister, Winifred predeceased him along with his parents, Bernie and Helen. A Celebration of Life Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Mount Church/Queen of Peace Parish. CDC protocols must be followed. There will be time for visiting outside the Church prior to Mass. The YouTube link for Memorial Mass; James B. "Jim Wehner is https://youtube/04BTMm2nkdA. Graveside interment in Calvary Catholic Cemetery will be held at a later date and will be private to the family. Please visit www.slaterfuneral.com and share your memories and condolences for Jim. Although Jim loved his flowers, he would truly appreciate you considering a donation in his memory to one of his two favorite charities St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital in Memphis, TN (stjude.org/donatetody) or St. Mary of the Mount ""Keep the Light Shining Campaign in Pittsburgh, PA (maryqueenofpeacepgh.org). Or, if you're planting a garden, you can put in an extra tomato plant or rose bush in his memory. Arrangements entrusted to WM. SLATER & SONS, INC., Mt. Madonna and Wehner family I'm very sad to hear of Uncle Jims passing. I will always remember his big smile and his happy nature. I remember back in the day when he would bring the family down to visit my mother on the weekends. Made her very happy to see the family.

He will truly be missed.....

Very sad to hear my friend Jim passed. I received a call from Madonna to call her. So my wife and I walked past their house and we saw Madonna and her cousin sitting on the porch. We were informed of Jim's passing. What a sad day. I enjoyed his company immensely and will miss him deeply.

I knew Jim all of work time life at Sears. We grew closer together when both of us became tech. managers. I enjoyed going to baseball games with him. I enjoyed his company at work and we supported each other. Please accept my deepest sympathy and may God bless his family and friends at this time of sorrow.
