I moved the Charleston in 2009. David made me feel so welcome, took me to lunch, gave wonderful informal counsel, and invited me to fill his pulpit. He was the brightest spot of my two years in Charleston. Carter Hiestand

Linda,
My heart breaks to hear about Dave's passing. Though we didn't see each other in the last few years, you and he have always been on my mind. Dave was one of those kind souls who comes into your life and makes you a better person. His wise counsel has been invaluable. His spirit will live on in all of our memories forever.
Love, Bob

Linda,
I'm so sorry to hear of Dave's passing. Bob Tallent sent me a message today informing me. I will always remember our trip to Anse Chastanet, and you and Dave were always on my mind. No he gets to swim among the sponges without scuba gear. May he be at peace.

There is no category listed for my relationship with David. At first he was a therapist and counselor, then he joined me and David Nackerud in matrimony (one of the 150 couples he married) in New York City. All through that he was a kind, patient, and very helpful mentor and someone I could turn to from time to time in the 30 plus years I knew him. I will miss his smile, his presence, and support. Linda was truly blessed with her choice.

My Dear L39; It is so sad to learn of Dave's passing. You and Dave made a dynamite combination. I can only imagine the impact of his loss upon you. We (Kathy and I) know that you will eventually deal with your new normal and you have our prayers to help make that period as brief as possible. Somewhere on this site I have posted the photo of Dave, Charlie and me at the end of the 1991 Marine Corps Marathon. That photo has been on my bookcase since it was taken, nearly 30 years ago. I'll always remember Dave like that. We all wanted to run the Marathon, but none of us were ready so he generously shared his place with us, running the anchor position and carrying your new puppy over the finish line. Of course he was greeted with "oohs" and "aws." We hope you are doing well. If we can do anything to help, please let us know. God Bless You!

Our deepest sympathies on the passing of Rev. David. We volunteered with David
at Fisher House, since it opened, three years ago. David will always be remembered as a fun guy, friendly and outgoing; he made sure everything in the kitchen, at Fisher House, was always in the right place and spick and span.
We will miss him.

David taught me so much about loving unconditionally and mutually. As a colleague, mentor, teacher, friend he taught me mutually. Our relationship spans 35 years. In our early days as working as co-therapist with couples and groups his capacity for empathy, listening deeply to others brought understanding to healing and hope to countless patients. David taught me about halves, at lunch we shared sandwiches, salads. To this day my kids would say," what's up with these half sandwiches in the refrig, or 1/2 bananna? Oh, that's for whoever else might want to eat this so they too can enjoy such yummy food; a quiet memory of shared moments that bring me joy to remember. "His sense of humor, love for his wife Linda, and all his pups,, his love of jazz and all music filled his soul with the mystery of faith and love of a God we can not see or touch except in each other.
Death is cruel, and I'm deeply saddened for his passing. Now David is over the rainbow bridge, face to face with the mystery of life itself. Peace Be With You..my heart is broken with sorrow, because you were such a joy to know.
