John J. Sirabella, Sr. of Waltham, formerly of Bellmore, New York, died Saturday, October 2, 2021 in Newton - Wellesley Hospital. He was 78. John was born in Brooklyn, New York, son of the late Joseph J. and Rose (Giaquinto) Sirabella. He was raised in Jackson Heights, Queens and was a graduate of Monsignor McClancy Memorial High School. He later earned his associates degree from St. John's University. He honorably served in the United States Army for three years (1962-1965). Through the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy, he was appointed Sergeant Specialist Four in the 7th Army. Through the introduction and success of a blind date he met and later married Emma M. Venturini on August 7, 1966 in Saint Barnabas Church in Bellmore, NY. They lived most of their lives in Bellmore before moving to Waltham ten years ago to be closer to family. John loved the game of golf, playing cards and bocce. The first tee was his chapel. He valued his time spent with family and friends more than anything. A Sunday afternoon with his family was his favorite place to be. He was full of spirit, loved being with people, and made friends everywhere he went. John was a very hard working man his entire life. He owned J&J Fruit and Vegetable Market in Merrick, New York. He later owned Northeastern Transfer Co. where he operated a transportation service as well as driving trucks himself. He became an insurance broker and owned Sabre Agency Inc in Bellmore until 2012 when he moved to Massachusetts and started Jemma Agency Inc. Throughout his busy career he managed to stay involved with the communities around him. He was a member of the Sons of Italy Lodge Piave Fiume #1036 in Watertown where he served as secretary and treasurer. While in New York he was a fourth degree member of the Bellmore Knights of Columbus #3689. In addition to his wife of 55 years, Emma, he leaves his children, Lisa A. Butler and husband, Robert Jr. of Waltham and John J. Sirabella Jr. and Virginia Mosier of Waltham; his grandchildren, Seamus, Anthony, Sheila and Ryan Butler and Ryan's fiancée, Carissa Healey; his sister-in-laws and brother-in-laws, Patricia and Ben Stone and Anna and Alberto Scuderi; his niece, Caitlin Stone and husband, Adam Snider and his nephew, Alessio Scuderi. He was a brother to the late Frank and Richard Sirabella. He also leaves many other in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends will honor and remember John's life by gathering on Thursday, October 7th in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon. Burial is private and there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Parkinson's Foundation New England Chapter | Attn: Donor Services, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131 | www.parkinson.org/NewEngland

My heartfelt condolences to John's family and friends for your loss. I had the great pleasure of playing a round of golf with John, my son, and our friend, Ralph about 15 months ago.. I thoroughly enjoyed his companionship that day.

I never met Mr. Sirabella, but i can only imagine what a great person he was. I can tell because I am friends with JJ who is one of the finest friends I have. I only wish I could have played a round with him and JJ together.

So sorry to hear of your dad, John. I only played with him a couple of times, but when we were together he would fascinate me with his life stories. My thoughts are with you and yours.

I knew John through golf at Wayland Country Club. John always had a smile on his face and a story to tell. He was a pleasure to have as an Inner Club member, and I will miss his presence in the Clubhouse at Wayland CC.

RIP, John
