Robert "Bob" Barrera Obituary

Published by Robinson Funeral Home & Crematory - Downtown on Nov. 26, 2021.
Robert "Bob" Barrera Easley, SC Bob Barrera, 65, husband of Donna Barrera, of Easley, passed away Friday, November 26, 2021. Born in Kingsville, TX, the son of the late Robert and Eglantina Garza Barrera, he was a proud United States Air Force veteran, devoted husband, a loving father, he loved the Lord; he loved his family and he loved his friends. Bob never knew a stranger, he genuinely loved talking and sharing common interests with anyone he met. Bob had a whacky sense of humor, expressive nature and the uncanny ability to have a "lengthy" story to tell for any topic that was raised. In addition to his loving wife of 44 years, Bob is survived by his son Derrick (Lacy), granddaughter Kaydee Barrera of Mobile, AL; a daughter Simonie Hansen (Eric), granddaughter Alayna Silva, also of Mobile, AL; a brother, John Barrera (Sharon); nephews Justin and Steven Barrera and a niece Sara Barrera. A Celebration of Life for Bob will be held Saturday, January 8, 2021, at 11AM at Freedom Church, 304 E Butler Road Mauldin, SC 29662. Please wear casual attire. For those who are not able to attend, the service will be life-streamed at https://wearefree.cc/. Scroll to the bottom of the page where the YouTube logo is. Keith and I will really miss Bob. He was always a pleasure to talk with and to see at church - he was a warm and comfortable person that was nice to have in your circles of friends. Keith enjoyed talking golf with him, too. We are glad we had an opportunity to do Top Golf with Bob and also spend several hours exploring the mountains with Bob and Donna one autumn day, where we were introduced to a Dunkle and learned about "snackie poo" dinners. We had one in his honor/memory recently and will always have fond memories of him.

My Papa was a loving man. Like what it said above, he knew no stranger and anyone who met him instantly made a friend. He loved his family, his country, and most of all his Lord. It hurts not to have him here with me but I know where he's at and know that I will see him again, just not as often as I'd like. He was my Papa and I was his Alayna-Poo. My memories will always be of us singing and dancing to Sugar Pie Honey Bunch and laughing at each others jokes. I love you Papa, forever and always. I can't wait for the day that I'll see you again and I'll get to have one of your bear crushing hugs and hear you call me Alayna-Poo. I know you'll visit me in my dreams and I know you will always be with me. I love you.

It seems like yesterday when we were all up at Castle AFB, still serving our country, raising our kids and having so much fun. It saddens my heart to hear you have left us here, but we know you're up in heaven being your joyful self. My prayers for strength and love to you Donna and your whole family. ❤

Bob was my friend and I loved him dearly. I'm crushed by his passing, but hopeful for his resurrection by the tender mercies of our Lord, whom Bob trusted and followed into death. My condolences to Donna, Derrick and Simonie. Bob was a kind and generous person, and a loyal friend. He loved his God, his family, and his country. He was a patriot and believed in the greatness of America, for which he served to protect. Thank you, Bob, for being my friend. I'll miss you, buddy.
