Benich Family,
I am sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Benich. I echo what Robert said. He was present at every practice and game. I think of him often as I am doing the same thing now with my own two kids. He was one of the men that helped guide a generation of Mount Pleasant boys growing up. He could always make you laugh. You knew he was there with the smell of the cigar, the words of encouragement to his son, and the roar of that truck. I went in that thing several times to see how fast it could get to 60 MPH- loved it too. He was quick on his feet and would often chase me if he didn't like the joke given to him after a practice or game. He was a gentle and kind soul and he will be missed. May he Rest in Peace and my thoughts with you all, especially you JJ. He loved the hell out of you and it was something I admire to this day

To the Benich Family,
I am sorry to hear about the passing of Mr. Benich....I loved talking to him as a younger man after all of the practices and games we shared with JJ- he could make anyone laugh. He loved watching his son play and I have often thought about him now that I am doing the same thing with my own boys. He was actually pretty fast on his feet as he would chase me often when I would swing a joke his way. . His video camera always on his son. The memories he has on those hand would be something to be seen. His truck- that thing could go 0 to 60 in what felt like 3 seconds. A great man, one of the men that helped many of us grow up on the sidelines. Always with a positive word or idea. Much love to your family during this difficult time. He is missed by many!

Dear Benich Family,
I am very sorry to hear of Joe's passing. For those of us who grew up and played soccer with JJ, he was a legend - never will we forget his patrolling the sidelines with his yellow video camera and cigar and his enthusiasm for the action on the field. I can still hear him yelling, "Pass it to Jay!" in his unique voice.
I'll also never forget the day he paddled out with us in monstrous hurricane surf on what must have been a 30 year old longboard that had had been collecting dust under the beach house! Even as youngsters, we all knew Joe was a character. But we also knew he had our best interests at heart and was looking out for us.
May he rest in peace. And may your family find peace and solace in this difficult time.
Yours truly,
Robert Hawk

Roban and Family, Ron and I send our heartfelt condolences to you as you mourn the loss of Joe. He was one of the first faculty members I met when I joined the accounting faculty in 1984. He greeted me then, and every time I saw him ever after, with ebullience. And oftentimes a cigar. The community has lost a real character. He will be missed.
Sincere wishes from Linda Plunkett
