Rosalind Ray Spell, 69, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, wife of Leroy Penn Spell entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, surrounded by her family after a valiant battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022, in Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, 302 Hibben Street at 2:00 pm. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel. Rossie was born July 18, 1952, in Moultrie, Georgia, daughter of the late Homer G. Ray and the late Martha Beatty Ray. She was a Georgia girl, raised in Moultrie and Atlanta where she graduated from the Westminster School. Her interest in history led Rosalind to further her education by attending and graduating from Sweetbriar College in Virginia. She especially enjoyed the history of WWII, leading to one of her most memorable experiences, standing on Omaha Beach on her 60th birthday. Rosalind made a happy home for her family both in Atlanta and Madison, GA and most recently in the I'On community in Mt. Pleasant, a community she loved and where she had many friends and social activities. She will be remembered as someone who never met a stranger. She is survived by her husband, Leroy Penn Spell of Mount Pleasant; children, Matthew Penn Spell and Anna Rosalind Thornton (Kyle); grandchildren, Mary Clark Ruiz Abad, and Maria Carolina Ruiz Abad; and siblings, Lauranna McGarity, Homer G. Ray, Jr.(Becky), Martha Jane Ray, and Markham Ray (Sheila).

Penn
Sherie and I were very sad to learn about Rossie.
She was a lovely, bright and wonderful lady, wife and mom.
I know you and the children will miss her.
As you know living on the coast during Covid is a true blessing. we came full-time about 3 years ago. I retired as of Jan first, and sense you have also retired.. as I have told Ron, Larry and Bob, I treasure the time we had our firm.
Fondly
Billy/Sherie

I have such fond memories of Rossie growing up in Moultrie. RB Wright Elementary School thru Moultrie High. She always had a smile on her face ! She was so very popular because she was a genuine, caring friend to all. She will be missed. At the last reunion we all attended, she shared my room as Virginia,Beth and her were a bit crowded in one room. It was a gift to be able to reminisce which her.

Oh my goodness! I am shocked to receive the notice of ROSSIE's death. While I haven't talked to her in a couple of years, maybe more, I had no idea she had cancer. I loved ROSSIE and enjoyed her friendship. We had a lot of fun getting together when she was in Madison. I believe it was our son, John, who spent a lot of fun time with Matt. Penn, I am so sad to hear this and I wish I could be there for the service but I'm only 11 days post surgery from knee replacement and I am not able to travel. Please know George and I are thinking about you all and our prayers are with you. We hope you will get in touch with us if you are in our area. Love to you all!
