Joyce G McCallister

Joyce Gwendolyn Acton-McCallister, 95, lifelong resident of Indianapolis, IN, passed away on February 11, 2022. She was born on April 4, 1926, to George A & Esther B. Acton. She married George A. Powell, her first love, on August 2,1943 who preceded her in death on December 3,1983. Joyce married her eternal love Paul R. McCallister on May 5, 2002 who preceded her in death on December 7, 2007. She Graduated from Manual High School and later attended Indiana University. She worked at Western Electric for 10 years and Dow Chemical for 25 years until she retired in 1988. She was a member of Center United Methodist Church where she served in many areas including; Lay Leader, United Methodist Women and TLC, as well as singing in the choir which gave her great joy. She was a woman of faith, a source of inspiration to many as she shared her faith with others throughout her lifetime. She had a heart full of love for her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, her children; G. David Powell, Brenda Derocher, Esther Burris, Janie Fulmer, Siblings; David Acton, Phyliss Acton, Betty Blake, Georgie Neville, grandchildren; Gerald L. "Little Luke" Green, Richie Burris, and great grandchildren; Camrin C. Reibsome, Elizabeth "Libby" Callahan, Ashley Albrecht, and Andrea Warfield. She is survived by her daughters; Sandra Lee Pruitt, Judith Ann Powell, Seven grandsons and seven granddaughters, many great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, near & dear friends, Center UMC family, and her CFO family. A visitation will be held Friday February 18, 2022, at Singleton & St. Pierre Funeral Home, 7602 Madison Ave. Indianapolis, IN from 3 pm - 7 pm. A funeral will be held Saturday February 19, 2022, at Center United Methodist Church, 5445 Bluff Road Indianapolis, IN 46217 at 11 am with visitation starting at 10 am.
