Dear Judy, I am sure you do not remember me either but John was my cousin through my grandma Barbara Yakin Safranko. Her brother George Yakin gave away John's sisters and I was actually at your wedding at age 4. Sending you and the family deepest sympathy. Wow did John really resemblepM his mother!

To the family,
I was sorry to hear of John's passing. Judy, even though you probably don't remember me, we met a long time ago when I visited the Jerek family with my parents and my husband back in the 70's. I lived in Windsor, Ontario at the time. The Jereks and the Pojes were relatives. My family had emigrated from Croatia as did the Jereks. Martin Jerek was a cousin of my father. We made several visits to Battle Creek and at times would spend the night at Helen's house, we even attended Kathleen's wedding. When my husband and I moved to Victoria, British Columbia in 80's, Helen and Luther came to visit us. Helen and I kept in touch and when Helen passed away, John was kind enough to phone and inform me. Everyone from that era has now left this earth. May you and your entire family find peace and comfort as you lost a great man.

Dear Family, while I didn't know John personally, as St Philip graduate and having attorney brothers, I knew of John.
I want to share a memory. At one of big St Phil Alumni Homecoming gatherings, before school was remodeled in more recent years, I saw an adult John greet a former high school teacher. A robust IHM nun in full habit who was back for the big reunion, was coming down the hall. John came around the corner and delightedly and loudly saidSister. He then hugged her, picked her up off her feet and whirled her around. They were both laughing and obviously delighted to see each other. The whole scene touched me. I hope the memory comforts.
God bless you as you grieve John's death.

Memories are taking me all the way back to Orchard Ave. And then in later years when I worked at the Justice Center, it always made my day to see John and chat with him a bit. What a delight it was to see him mount the successful Urbandale Speeds defense in Judge Reed's courtroom. We all chuckled about that for years. May peace be with you and your family.

Dear Judy,
I am so sorry to hear of John's passing today. I have always had fond memories of John and his 12 years at St. Philip's school days. As you know, as I think about them, I am smiling.

Dear Judy, Pete and I are very sorry for your loss.
John was proud of all his daughters and specifically told me so when we saw you and John last December at Schuler's.
We know that you will find comfort in the love of your family and the beautiful memories you have will sustain you. You were my first friend when I came to Battle Creek so many years ago. I contacted you when I thought I was pregnant and you recommended Dr. Bartels. For that I am very grateful.
Our sincere condolences to you and your beautiful daughters.
