Robert, Scottie -- So sorry to learn about Harry. Haven't seen him for decades, but still have fresh and vivid memories of him at the beach house, in stick-ball games, or telling stories. His quiet friendliness and sincerity shone about him. I loved the "Cat. Harry" article a while back. Will miss him.
With sympathy,

Very sorry to learn of this loss. He would have made a great fictional character if somebody could have put the pieces together in the right way God did. I have not seen him in many years so my last glimpse of the man was him fishing as thunder crashed and lighting skirted the skies on Sullivan's Island. He hadn't caught what he wanted so the storm was not going to drive him away. Prayers for the family and many friends he helped along the way.

Harry has been a dear friend of mine since I was about 15 years old in the early days of our family boats at Tolers Cove Marina. Harry's 27ft Scottie Craft, "Petrel", next to the Johnson's 31ft Bertram, "Ragtime", and Our boat, a 33ft Egg Harbor, "She Crab". I learned a lot about offshore fishing from him by fishing on the Petrel numerous times over the years. As a young teen, I was in awe of Harry. I learned about seamanship and fishing abilities from him. Over the years, after being married and raising a family of my own; I continued to be a regular visitor of Harry at his Condo in Tolers Cove; He used to love to talk about the old days when fishing was much simpler; even before Toler's Cove. He and some close friends owned a " Egg Harbor"- built fishing boat together downtown at the City Marina . I was fortunate to see Harry 2 times in the last month in his Aquarium-filled study where he loved to watch and read; Also I am very fortunate that my 2 sons, Will and Dalton, were able to know Harry. The fishing comunity and Charleston has lost a great man. It was my pleasure to have known you, Harry. Thank you, Harry we love you. Charles Riley
