Ms. Eileen Chapman

Ms. Eileen Chapman, 65, of Waterbury, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Waterbury Hospital, Surrounded by her loving family. Ms. Chapman was born January 12, 1957, in Waterbury, CT, a daughter of the late Glyn and Fannie (Bunch) Chapman Sr. Eileen was educated in the Waterbury Public School System and attended Wilby High School. She later obtained her GED. Over the years, she worked in many capacities but was most proud of her time working at The Siemon Company, in Watertown, CT, until her retirement. After relocating to Georgia, Eileen learned that her two daughters were expecting children, one with twins. Without hesitation, she moved back to Connecticut to support her growing family and embrace her role as grandmother. Her door was always open, and there were no time limits on being in her presence. As a mother, she often put her family's needs above her own. Upon the passing of her sister, Gerry, she became mom to her nephews, Orin Chapman and Glyn Chapman III. She was known for her magnetic personality, giving nature, and thoughtfulness. She demonstrated these qualities throughout her life. Eileen will be remembered fondly for opening her home and kitchen to any and everyone. She would cook a feast (ribs, baked chicken, macaroni & cheese, potato salad) and then call her family, friends, neighbors and anyone in need to come by. Everyone came, ate, enjoyed the fellowship and even napped! Many will miss her sauerkraut & kielbasa; her children will miss their individual sweet potato pies every holiday. Her banana pudding, ribs and mac & cheese will live on through her daughters and granddaughters, whom she taught her secrets. Eileen is lovingly survived by her children, Stacey Chapman, Shamaine Savage, Orin Chapman and Glyn Chapman III, all of Waterbury; her grandchildren; one sibling, Edell Tillman of South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is predeceased by her son, Michael Chapman Sr; sisters, Geraldine Chapman and Delores Chapman; and brother, Glyn Chapman Jr.
