Peggy Jean Brenneman, 77, of New Castle, Indiana, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, November 11, 2025.
She was born on September 8, 1948, in Anderson, Indiana to the late Fred and Norma (Clark) Johnson.
Peggy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She was married to the love of her life, Richard Brenneman, for 42 wonderful years. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and family.
She is survived by her six children, Mary (Dan) Nepstad, Fred (Christina) Huntzinger, Paul York, Rebekah (John) Copas, John (Amanda) York, and Jason (Jessica) Brenneman; a special daughter-in-law, Tati York; 21 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren who were truly her world. She also leaves behind her sisters, Paula Ray and Patti Adams; a brother, Fred (Lori) Johnson; a sister-in-law, Charleene (Leon) Paul, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Johnny Johnson; a son, Gary York; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
In her earlier years, Peggy worked as a manicurist and at the Indiana Soldiers and Sailors Home, later devoting herself to being a stay-at-home wife and mother. She poured her heart into raising her children and caring for her home. Later, Peggy found great fulfillment working for Renewal by Andersen, a job she truly loved and excelled in.
Peggy enjoyed tending to her flowers, working on her house, and traveling whenever she got the chance. She loved seeing new places and making memories along the way. Above all, she will be remembered for her kind heart, her laughter, and the deep love she had for her family.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed, but her love and spirit will continue to guide her family every day.
Friends may call on Monday, November 17 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at Sproles Family Funeral Home in New Castle.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 18 at 11:00 am with Pastor Bryce Campbell and Austin Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memory Gardens.
