Terry Goforth Obituary

Terry Lee Goforth, 76, of New Castle, passed away peacefully on the evening of Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center in Indianapolis, following a brief illness.

Born on October 7, 1949, in Winchester, Indiana, Terry was the beloved son of the late Margaret Goforth.

A 1969 graduate of Winchester High School, Terry didn't waste a moment stepping into adulthood-he entered the United States Navy just two days after graduation. He served his country proudly, later continuing his commitment through more than 20 years in the Naval Reserve.

Terry built a long and steady career at Anchor Hocking Glassware in Winchester, where he worked as a supervisor for over 32 years, retiring in 2010. Outside of work, he enjoyed life's simple pleasures-cooking meals for those he loved, collecting lighthouses, and traveling whenever he could.

Those who knew Terry will remember him most for his fun-loving spirit. He was a jokester through and through, someone whose quick wit and unpredictable humor kept those around him laughing and on their toes. Beneath the humor was a deeply family-oriented man, warm-hearted and devoted to the people he held close.

Terry was a proud member of V.F.W. Post #1282 and took great pride in the friendships and camaraderie he found there.

Those left to cherish his memory include his husband, Donald E. Baney; a son, Clinton Stuart; his sister, Rose (Tim) Brandenburg of Winchester; his brother, Bobby (Brenda) Goforth of Winchester; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Sproles Family Funeral Home, with military honors provided by contingents from the U.S. Navy and the American Legion. Friends may visit from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
