Lynda Sue "Ford" South

Lynda Sue (Ford) South, 79, of New Castle, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday evening, December 31, 2025, at Henry Community Health, following a brief illness.

She was born on July 20, 1946, in New Castle, Indiana, a daughter of the late Andrew and Margaret Josephine (Winchester) Ford.

Lynda was a kind-hearted and generous woman who truly would have given you the shirt off her back. She was known for her warm smile and caring spirit, always ready to help others in any way she could. A hardworking woman, Lynda was employed for many years with Western Electric and Indiana Bell in Indianapolis and later worked for many years at Marsh Supermarket in New Castle, where her dedication and friendly nature were well known.

In her quieter moments, Lynda enjoyed watching old Westerns on television and spending time working crossword puzzles and word searches. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her family, who meant the world to her and brought her the greatest joy.

Those left to cherish Lynda's memory include her son, James (Monique) South of New Castle; her grandchildren, Blake Whitehead, Jonathan Catron, Dalton South, Charity South, and Kaci (James) Pate; her great-grandchildren, Xavier Sanders, Destiny, Aiden, and Aliyah Catron, and Marley, Asher, and Brennen Pate; her brothers, Donald Ford of New Castle and Robert (Kathy) Ford of Bourbon, Indiana; a sister, Vicki York and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lynda was preceded in death by her beloved daughters, Sherry Lynn South and Sonya Renee South; a sister, Lucille Eddings; a brother, James Andrew Ford Jr. and stepmother, Eula Ford.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Sproles Family Funeral Home, with Sister Kathy Ford officiating. Friends may call from noon until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
