Laura "Joyce" Bledsoe, 70, of New Castle, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Sunday evening, February 15, 2026, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
Born on November 29, 1955, in Tracy City, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Edna (Sanders) Nunley.
Joyce will be remembered most for her quiet kindness and the steady love she gave so freely to her family. She was a devoted wife, a caring mother, and a proud grandmother whose heart was never far from those she loved. For 42 years, she shared life hand-in-hand with her husband, Jeffrey Bledsoe. Their marriage was marked by faithfulness, partnership, and a deep, abiding love.
In recent months, one of her greatest joys was her precious grandson, Bennett. Becoming "Mama" brought her such happiness. She treasured every smile, every little milestone, and every moment she could hold him close.
Joyce loved the Lord and lived her faith sincerely and humbly. She and Jeff were faithful members of Kennard Baptist Church, where she found encouragement, fellowship, and dear friends. Her church family was very important to her, and she valued being part of a community of believers.
She was a dependable and hardworking woman who took pride in her years of service at Indiana Automotive Fasteners in Greenfield, retiring in October 2024. She believed in showing up, doing her best, and caring about the people around her.
Joyce had a warm, gentle smile that made others feel at ease. It was the kind of smile that reflected her tender heart and the quiet joy she carried within her.
In her quieter moments, she enjoyed reading and spending time with her family. She had a thoughtful spirit – the kind of person who remembered the little things and made others feel cared for.
Those left to carry her memory forward include her loving husband of 42 years, Jeffrey Bledsoe; her son, Adam Bledsoe of New Castle; her daughter, Sarah (Joseph) Weaver of Anderson; her beloved grandson, Bennett; three sisters, Mary Jo Gregory of Kennard, Brenda Anderson of Tracy City, Tennessee, and Janice Lovell of Chandler; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jeff Nunley.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Kennard Baptist Church with Pastor Brent Weaver officiating. Burial will follow in Hicksite Cemetery in Greensboro. Friends may call from 12:00 pm until the time of the service on Thursday at the church.
