Larry Adkins

Larry Adkins, 82, of New Castle, passed away on Monday, April 13, 2026, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.

He was born on July 26, 1943, in New Castle, Indiana, a son of the late Malchom M. and Anna Laura (Dicken) Adkins.

Larry was a 1961 graduate of New Castle Chrysler High School and went on to dedicate 30 years of service to Delco Remy in Anderson. On July 30, 1988, he married Janice McDowell, and together they shared 37 years of marriage filled with love and companionship.

Larry enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He loved spending time fishing and deer hunting, and in retirement, he found great satisfaction working with his hands-especially woodworking, where he crafted cabinets and shelving. He was an outgoing man who never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. His friendly nature and easy way with people will be remembered by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish Larry's memory include his loving wife, Janice Adkins; his son, Kent (Stacy) Adkins of Nicholasville, Kentucky; a stepson, Bobby (Wendy) Herron of Yorktown; a grandson, Landon (Meggan) Adkins of Nicholasville; several step-grandchildren, including Brooke (Trey) Forsyth of Indianapolis; a sister, Patty Vogel of Greenfield; a brother, Gerald Adkins of Mt. Summit and a sister, Sue Kay (Sam) Taylor of New Castle; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a son, Kelly Adkins, and a brother, Bob Adkins.

A time of gathering will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Sproles Family Funeral Home.
