July 30, 2021 "My deepest condolences to the Levin family as Carl will truly be missed.
As the former Executive Director of the Detroit Wayne County Port Authority and longtime friend of Carl, it seemed like this day would never come. Carl was such a robust man and sincere public servant who always wanted to be involved with projects that could beautify the Detroit River waterfront. I was fortunate enough to be involved with him on many different projects around Detroit and saw first-hand how passionate he was about our city. I saw his family's great pride when we named the Port Authority building after him and erected a bust of him on the port waterfront. Another fitting tribute to both Carl and his wife Barbara was when the Secretary of the Navy came to our office to announce that their brand new Freedom-class littoral combat ship would be named the USS Detroit and Barbara would christen it. May Carl rest in peace and his spirit forever be with us in our community." - John Jamian (Rochester Hills, MI)
July 30, 2021 "Deep condolences to Carl's family. He will be missed. When I was a stage manager at WWJ/WDIV TV-4 back in the day, Carl and Sander were guests on our taped programs. They were two great guys! Carl was always a pleasure to work with. He cared about issues that I felt strongly about and still do. The Levin brothers were rare in politics; they were down to earth. " - Gaye Tischler (Ferndale, MI)
