"My deepest condolences to the Hall family. I first met Donald Hall through the poetry of Jane Kenyon some fifteen years ago. Last year I travelled to Wilmot to see Eagle Pond farm. On my return home I wrote two letters to him which he graciously answered within a few days. He spoke of his new book which would be coming out in July 2018. He will be missed, but his work will be read for a long, long time."

"Complications in a man can be revealed in songs, writing, and poetry theses are the windows of the mind and heart. Can we understand what they are saying? If we listen very carefully with our hearts and minds the intent of their meaning becomes clear. My sincere condolences for your loss."

"A great man whose poetry moved many, and one's whose memory I cherish. Don personified the spirit of Wilmot, New Hampshire, the Red Sox, and indeed America."
