Former Australian prime minister Malcolm Fraser has died at age 84. "It is with deep sadness that we inform you that after a brief illness, John Malcolm Fraser died peacefully in the early hours of the morning of 20 March, 2015," a statement released by his office said. The longtime politician is remembered for his advocacy of immigration and multiculturalism, having fiercely opposed apartheid and pushed to bring refugees from South East Asia to Australia in the wake of the Vietnam war. He served as prime minister from 1975 to 1983 after serving in the Australian Parliament since 1955.
