A customer at a Canadian restaurant reminded us that love is a dish meant to be shared.
Recently, a customer at a Canadian restaurant reminded us that love is a dish meant to be shared.
On Jan. 7, 2014, Lee Ballantyne was eating at Cicco’s in Barrie, Ontario. It was his first time dining out without his wife Carol, who had died just a week earlier, on Dec. 30, 2013. Seeing a young couple enjoying an evening together, he was reminded of the 43 years he and his wife had spent together. Ballantyne surreptitiously picked up their tab and gave a note to their waitress explaining what had happened.
A snapshot of the note made its way to the Web and quickly spread around the world. Ballantyne’s simple act of kindness, and the way it touched so many people, serves as a reminder of the power we all have to make the world a better place.
Read the note in its entirety here, but make sure you have a tissue handy.
