A Lou Rawls Christmas

by Legacy Staff

Lou Rawls had “the classiest singing and silkiest chops in the singing game,” Frank Sinatra once said. That velvety voice sounds good all year long, but never quite as wonderful as during the holidays.

Rawls was born Dec. 1, 1933, and what better way to celebrate this December baby’s life than to listen to a few of his greatest Christmas songs?

Rawls released several Christmas albums, beginning with 1967’s Merry Christmas! Ho! Ho! Ho! featuring the song “Merry Christmas Baby.”

Rawls made holiday classics such as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” swing like never before.

And he added his own flair to modern favorites like “Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.”

Even if Christmas isn’t your holiday of choice, there’s a Lou Rawls song for you. “What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve,” for example.
