Musical career
Rappa began playing with the Comets in the mid-1950s, recording and touring with them off and on until 1969. He is featured on their recordings including 1959’s “Strictly Instrumental.” Rappa became known for antics with his stand-up bass, including standing atop it. He appeared along with the Comets in the movies “Jóvenes y rebeldes” and Besito a Papa.” In later years, Rappa formed “Bill Haley’s Comets” with other former members of the Comets, touring extensively.
