Acting career
Flood starred in the soap opera “From These Roots” before joining the cast of “The Edge of Night” in 1962. Her character, a journalist, married the show’s hero, Mike Carr, a police officer who rose to become district attorney. Though Mike Carr was featured in the show’s entire 28-year run, he was played by three different actors, making Flood the show’s longest-running cast member. After the 1984 series finale of “The Edge of Night,” Flood had roles on the soap operas “Search for Tomorrow,” “Another World,” and “As the World Turns,” as well as a guest spot on “The Cosby Show.” She also had a small role in the 1988 movie “Mystic Pizza.”
