He later had a recurring role in “Pitch” on Fox, and he appeared in “Justified,” “House,” “Key & Peele,” “The Soul Man,” “NCIS: New Orleans” and “Superstore.” Belasco was featured in a popular 2010 Snickers commercial alongside Betty White, playing football with friends and saying, “Mike, you’re playing like Betty White out there.”
Notable quote
“I would say some of my biggest influence to be creative was my great-grandfather, a musician in Trinidad, named Lionel Belasco. When I was a kid, I remember hearing his story of what he tried to do, his journey. It was so inspiring to me. He was so focused on his work. I never met my great-grandfather, I only know him by his music and his music speaks to me…some of it brings tears to my eyes because you can hear him through his music. It’s something that I wanted to apply to my art.” —from a 2011 interview with The Star Scoop
