Carol M. Baldwin was the founder of the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund and the mother of actors Alec, Stephen, Billy, and Daniel Baldwin.

Fighting breast cancer

After raising her children – four actor sons as well as daughters Elizabeth and Jane – Baldwin worked in market research. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1990 and underwent a double mastectomy. After her fight with breast cancer, Baldwin became determined to help others with the disease. She founded the Carol M. Baldwin Breast Cancer Research Fund in 2001, raising money for research at SUNY Upstate Medical University and Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Since its founding, the fund has raised millions of dollars for cancer research.
