In the U.S., Jivkov was best known for his prominent role in “The Passion of the Christ,” in which he was billed as Hristo Jivkov. He was expected to reprise his role in the rumored sequel to the film, though that sequel had not yet begun production at the time of his death. Much of Jivkov’s career took place in Italian cinema and TV, including a starring role as Giovanni de Medici in Ermanno Olmi’s (1931–2018) “The Profession of Arms.”
