Dagny Carlsson (1912–2022), world’s oldest blogger

by Linnea Crowther

Dagny Carlsson was a Swedish blogger who gained an international audience after she began blogging at the age of 99.

World’s oldest blogger

Carlsson began her blog in 2011, just after taking a computer course at the age of 99. Blogging about her daily life under the name Bojan, she became a beloved influencer with fans all over the world. She made appearances on Swedish TV and had a small role in the 2013 movie “The Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared.” In recent years, Carlsson wrote frequently about the loneliness and frustration she experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic. At 109, she was believed to have been the oldest blogger in the world. Prior to her fame as a blogger, Carlsson worked in clothing factories and at the Swedish Social Insurance Agency.

Notable quote

“I do not want to claim that I am the queen of blogs, but I have at least become a celebrity in the old days. Many celebrities are great personalities but I’m just an old aunt.” —from a 2021 blog post
