Actor and casting director
Goldman’s movie debut was playing Capt. Murrhardt in “MASH” (1970). He went on to a brief but memorable role in “Young Frankenstein” (1974), playing an inquisitive medical student who enrages Dr. Frankenstein in the film’s opening scene. Other movie credits for Goldman include “The Missouri Breaks” (1976), “Wholly Moses!” (1980), and “Where the Buffalo Roam” (1980). On TV, Goldman had a prominent voice role as Brainy Smurf, the nerdy and scolding smurf, in “The Smurfs” from 1981 to 1989. Goldman later reprised the role of Brainy Smurf in several episodes of “Robot Chicken.” Goldman’s other TV appearances include “The Partridge Family,” “Trapper John, M.D.,” and “Criminal Minds.” Goldman was also a casting director of commercials for three decades.
